Vladimir, 37 years old
My name is Vladimír Pěnička, and I am proof that even the darkest places can give rise to a new beginning.
My journey didn’t start out easily. I grew up in an environment marked by bullying, social pressure, and, eventually, an escape into the world of drugs. Those were years when I was searching for myself in the wrong places and felt like there was no future for me.
But it was precisely that darkness that made me fight.
Stand up to what was destroying me.
And decide to create a life that is meaningful.
ZloThe turning point came when I left the Czech Republic and moved to England.
That’s where my new chapter began.
In England, I found not only a job, but also freedom, a fresh start, and a direction I hadn’t seen before. I started over—from scratch, but with determination. The culinary world has become my home, a place where I can create, grow, and be better than I was yesterday.
I have 18 years of experience. I’ve worked as a bartender and sous chef in a 2AA Rosette kitchen, and for the past few years I’ve served as Head Chef and Manager. I’ve led teams, built up operations, and learned that success doesn’t happen by chance, but through hard work, discipline, and humility.
I love nature, traveling, dogs, and life’s adventures.
My husband, our dogs, and I are exploring Europe and collecting memories that remind me of how far I’ve come.
And today I know who I am:
A person who has walked through darkness but has chosen to walk toward the light.
A person who fights, creates, and helps.

Or, how it all began...
In 2012, I, Vladimír, made a decision that turned my life upside down—I moved to England. It wasn’t an easy start. I didn’t speak the language, I wasn’t familiar with the surroundings, and everything around me was new and foreign. But I had a burning desire to prove myself. After two weeks of searching, I landed my first job—at a car wash. It was a small position, but for me, it was the first step on the path to independence.
Moving Forward in Your Career
My year in England taught me much more than I expected. In addition to gaining experience, I also learned English—so well, in fact, that my boss offered me an opportunity I couldn’t refuse: he would pay for my schooling, and I would become a chef. I seized that chance with both hands. I finished school, and that marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life. My career gradually grew. I started as a cook, moved through several positions, and eventually worked my way up to sous chef at a hotel. Every day of hard work brought me closer to my dream—to combine my love of travel, cooking, and hospitality into a single life path.
A life-changing encounter
But fate had one more pivotal moment in store for me.
In 2020, when the world came to a standstill because of COVID, I decided to return to the Czech Republic. And that’s where I met my future husband, Vasilis, who is half Greek. Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe it was fate—but it was definitely one of the best encounters of my life.
While the pandemic was a difficult time for many people, for us it marked the beginning of something beautiful. It brought our lives together and gave us the chance to embark on a journey together.
We switched places
As time went on, we decided to sign up for the TV show *Wife Swap*. We were scared, we cried, we laughed, but it was worth it. That’s when I officially asked Vasi to marry me, just the two of us.
After filming, we decided we wanted to be together full-time. So in 2023, we moved to England together, where we began building a new life. We’re both Aries—passionate, stubborn, adventurous, and determined to make our dreams come true. And that’s exactly what keeps us going.

What's next?
Our next big chapter is approaching. In April 2026, we plan to take the next step in our lives—moving to the Greek island of Zakynthos. The island, which captivated us with its turquoise sea, sunshine, and tranquility, is set to become our permanent home. And not only that—we want to open our own family-run hotel there. A place where our experience, our love of hospitality, and our shared energy will come together.
This story is about journeys, about coincidences that aren’t really coincidences, and about love that can change a whole life.
And we, Vladimír and Vasilis, look forward to welcoming anyone who wants to share a part of this journey with us—and maybe one day even visit our dream home on Zakynthos.
Aneb jak to celé začalo..
V roce 2012 jsem já, Vladimír, udělal rozhodnutí, které mi obrátilo život vzhůru nohama — odjel jsem do Anglie.
Nebyl to snadný začátek. Neovládal jsem jazyk, neznal jsem prostředí a všechno kolem mě bylo nové a cizí. Ale měl jsem v sobě touhu něco dokázat. Po dvou týdnech hledání jsem získal svou první práci — u myčky. Byla to drobná pozice, ale pro mě to znamenalo první krok na cestě k samostatnosti.
Kariérou kupředu
Rok v Anglii mě naučil mnohem víc, než jsem čekal. Kromě zkušeností jsem se naučil i anglicky, a to natolik, že mi můj šéf nabídl příležitost, která se neodmítá — zaplatí mi školu a já se stanu kuchařem.
Uchopil jsem tu šanci oběma rukama. Školu jsem dokončil a tím se začala psát další kapitola mého života.
Moje kariéra postupně rostla. Začínal jsem jako kuchař, prošel jsem několika pozicemi a nakonec jsem se vypracoval až na zástupce šéfkuchaře v hotelu. Každý den tvrdé práce mě posouval blíž k mému snu — spojit lásku k cestování, vaření a pohostinnosti do jednoho životního směru.
Životní setkání
Jenže osud měl pro mě připravený ještě jeden zásadní moment.
V roce 2020, kdy svět zastavil COVID, jsem se rozhodl vrátit zpátky do Česka. A právě tam jsem potkal svého budoucího manžela, Vasilise, napůl Řeka. Možná náhoda, možná osud — ale určitě to bylo jedno z nejlepších setkání mého života.
Zatímco pro mnoho lidí byla pandemie těžkým obdobím, pro nás se stala začátkem něčeho krásného. Spojila naše životy a dala nám šanci vydat se na společnou cestu.
Vyměnili jsme se
Jak čas ubíhal, rozhodli jsme se, že se přihlásíme do pořadu televizního pořadu Výměna manželek. Báli jsme se, brečeli, smáli se, ale stálo to za to. Tehdy jsem mezi čtyřma očima Vasiho požádal oficiálně o ruku.

Po natáčení jsme se rozhodli, že spolu chceme být naplno. A tak jsme v roce 2023 společně odešli do Anglie, kde jsme začali budovat nový začátek. Oba jsme Berani — vášniví, tvrdohlaví, dobrodružní a odhodlaní plnit si sny. A právě to nás žene dál.
A co bude dál?
Naše další velká kapitola se blíží. V dubnu 2026 plánujeme další životní krok — stěhování na řecký ostrov Zakynthos. Ostrov, který nás oslnil tyrkysovým mořem, sluncem a klidem, se má stát naším stálým domovem. A nejen to — chceme tam otevřít náš vlastní rodinný hotel. Místo, kde se spojí naše zkušenosti, naše láska k pohostinnosti i naše společná energie.
Tento příběh je o cestách, o náhodách, které nejsou náhodné, a o lásce, která dokáže změnit celý život
A my, Vladimír a Vasilis, se těšíme na každého, kdo s námi bude chtít sdílet kousek této cesty — a jednou třeba i navštívit náš vysněný domov na Zakynthosu.
